WWF has produced Hong Kong's first Seafood Guide to help seafood lovers make more sustainable choices. Now the decision-making has just got easier with the new WWF-Hong Kong Seafood Guide App!
Due to different fishery management practices, it is not uncommon to see stocks of one species of fish being sustainably harvested in one part of the world, while simultaneously being overfished in another. For example, populations of leopard coral trout are overfished in southeast Asian but relatively healthy in Australian waters. By exercising consumer power this is a situation we can improve.
WWF's Seafood Guide App covers the 67 most popular seafood species in Hong Kong. These fish can often be found in local wet markets, supermarkets, frozen food shops and restaurants selling live fish. So, next time you shop or order a meal, use our app to help you pick ‘recommended’ seafood items as the best choices and stay away from species you should ‘avoid’. Choose sustainably and help save our marine environment!
