Sunset or sundown is the daily sinking of the Sun down the horizon in the west as a result of Earth's rotation. During this time, a special term called Magic Hour or Golden Hour is assigned by photographers for enchanting effects due to the lighting condition.

Typically, lighting is softer, more diffuse, warmer in hue, and shadows are longer. When the sun is near the horizon, sunlight travels through more of the atmosphere, reducing the intensity of the direct light, so that more of the illumination comes from indirect light from the sky. This provides the best opportunities for stunning photos.
